The Red Sleeves
have been very busy since we created the web site and wrote the first blog a few months ago!
First, we had to integrate our new member (Pat) and spend time with him, to get him up to speed on the songs we play. In order to accelerate this process, we started having rehearsals twice a week, versus the usual one time, although the second session was with a smaller group. This way we were able to play about 35 songs together in 2 months' time. The list includes several original songs such as "Angel" and "Script for Life" as well as many covers, some of which (but not all!) are listed on this web site. Not 100% of the songs are fully "gig ready" but we have enough material together to play live now, and we are adding more as time goes on. And of course we are constantly refining all the songs to make sure we play them "just right."
You may notice that we have added a few more photos to our web site, to show the current members of the band. We took some photos in the Proberaum one night, and we will be adding more in the near future. Stay tuned.
We also decided to complete the work on the Demo CD that we had started a while ago, we think this will be important to help us get more gigs. We already had the start of a Demo CD with songs that Manuela sings, but we needed to add some songs where Pat sings. So the Demo CD will be ready very soon. The songs are recorded right in the Proberaum, we play them "Live" with minimal overdubbing (sometimes vocals) so that you know how we really
sound. We do not plan to upload covers to the web site, but you can listen to a few of them, of course for free, here:
We have been spending time registering for festivals, for example
contacting booking agents and many individual venues, putting ads in the Internet for example
signing up at Party websites such as
and generally being busy creating awareness of our band and making contacts. This is an ongoing process, the work is never finished!
The Red Sleeves are ready for action, and getting better prepared every week!!!
